Fortunately for collectors there is one very positive thing about the series of 1928 two dollar bills. Since these were the first small size two dollar bills printed, both the star notes and regular issues can have very low serial numbers. Both serial numbers started at 00000001, and the serial number 1 regular issue note is known to exist.
In total at least 50 million regular issue 1928 $2 red seals were printed.
Like all red seal two dollar legal tender notes, the series of 1928 $2 notes features Thomas Jefferson on the front and Monticello on the back.
All 1928 two dollar bills were printed in 1928 and for a few days in January 1929. 1928 notes are signed by AW Mellon and HT Tate.
Series of 1928 $2 star notes were also printed. To learn more about 1928 $2 star notes click here.
