The series of 1935A $1 yellow seal silver certificate was a limited issue for the United States military during World War II. These silver certificates are most commonly called one dollar North Africa notes.
Series of 1935A North Africa ones are very common and easily obtainable. A circulated example will cost around $25. A choice uncirculated $1 North Africa yellow seal silver certificate can be bought for around $150.
Because the North Africa one is a silver certificate it does come in different block varieties. The two most commonly encountered blocks for the one dollar denomination are the IC and RC blocks. The BC and CC blocks are also prevalent for the series of 1935A one dollar North Africa note. The rarest block is the FC block. All blocks sell for similar prices in circulated grades; however, the FC block will carry a premium in uncirculated states.
1935A North Africa one dollar silver certificates tend to come on dark paper. These notes were also saved by many people who recognized their yellow seal color. It is not uncommon to find consecutively numbered notes in very high grades.
