Description:The $100 interest bearing note shown below is from 1864 and it is for one year.  This is a unique design that features a standing vignette of George Washington.  All of these notes were signed by Chittenden and Spinner.  As you can guess from the age and high denomination, these are rare.

Inscriptions:  Treasury Note  –  This Note Is A Legal Tender For One Hundred Dollars  –  One Year After Date The United States Will Pay To The Order With Five Percent Interest One Hundred Dollars Payable With Interest  –  Act of March 3rd 1863  –  Register Of The Treasury  –  Treasury Department  –  American Bank Note Company New York  –  This Note Is A Legal Tender At Its Face Value Excluding Interest, For All Debts Public and Private, Except Duties on Imports and Interest On The Public Debt Counterfeiting Or Altering This Note, Or Passing Any Counterfeit Or Alteration Of It, Or Having In Possession Any False Or Counterfeit Plate or Impression Of It, Or Any Paper Made In Imitation Of The Paper On Which It Is Printed Is Felony And Is Punishable By $1,000 Fine, Or 15 Years Imprisonment At Hard Labor or Both.
