|Description: The first United States silver certificates were issued in 1878. As a new type of paper money, they were not issued in great numbers. The ones that have survived today have only done so by pure luck. 1878 $50 silver certificates are especially rare. They available infrequently at best.
1878 $50 silver certificates are printed on paper that is slightly two toned. The seal is red and the serial numbers are blue. Edward Everett is pictured on the right hand side of the bill.
|Variations: There five different types of 1878 $50 silver certificates. Of those five types, two are not known to exist, one is unique, and the other two are still very rare. Please contact us for more information about varieties and exact pricing.|
