Description:  National bank notes are valued based on how many notes are known from each bank.  $20 notes from 1882 with blue seals are typically not especially rare.  This is because in order for these notes to have been issued the bank would have already printed earlier series notes for at least six years.

These notes show a man with a rifle and woman holding a flag.  More specifically the left scene shows the Battle of Lexington and the woman is Columbia leading procession.  The back of these blue seals has the years 1882 and 1908 written on it.  Because of that, they are known as 1882 date backs.

If you have a $20 blue seal from 1882 then we would encourage you to send us a picture of it.

Variations:  If your 1882 $20 blue seal is signed by Rosecrans and Morgan or Vernon and McClung then you have a rare variety.  However, even if your bill is signed by someone else, it could still be rare and valuable because of the bank of issue, the serial number, or condition.  Send us picture of your note for more details.
