Description:  1882 $20 gold certificates are very different looking from all other gold certificates of the same denomination.  James Garfield is pictured on the right hand side of each bill.  Instead of a gold seal, these notes have a red seal.  The serial number is printed in blue ink instead of gold ink.

Some 1882 twenty dollar gold certificates can be rare.  Even common notes in high grade will be valuable.  The back design of each bill has a lot of open, leading some people to assume that there is some kind of misprint on their note.  That is rarely the case.  All 1882 $20 bills have an orange reverse with an eagle.

Variations:  There are six different varieties to the 1882 $20 gold certificate.

The most common notes are signed by Lyons and Roberts.  Anything that is not signed by Lyons and Roberts is rare, and could potentially be quite valuable.  No matter what you have, we strongly recommend that you send us a picture of your note.
