Description:  Around 250 different banks issued series of 1882 $50 date back national bank notes.  Today there just over 200 of these notes known to exist with collectors.  There are more waiting to be found, but right now they are fairly rare.

Just like with all national currency, the issuing bank is extremely important when dealing with higher denominations like this.  Something from a common bank, could be very rare for the state.  So everything out there has a really good chance to be valuable.

Variations:  The following names are the possible signature combinations for series of 1882 $50 blue seals:

Rosecrans – Huston
Rosecrans – Nebeker
Tillman – Morgan
Tillman – Roberts
Bruce – Roberts
Lyons – Roberts
Vernon – Treat
Napier – McClung

The good news is that the treasury signatures on these notes are pretty close to meaningless.  Almost all collectors care much more about the bank of issue and the condition of the bill rather than the signatures.
