Description:  1890 was the first year that treasury notes were printed.  1891 was the last year that treasury notes were printed.  The biggest difference between the two years is the back of each bill.  1890 notes, like the twenty dollar bill seen below, had a rich dark green back.

A portrait of John Marshall is printed on the left hand side of the bill.  There are also two identical serial numbers printed at the top right and bottom left of each note.
