Description:  Series of 1899 $2 silver certificates are common, but they are certainly still collectible.  We refer to these notes as “mini-portholes” because it looks like George Washington is being viewed through the porthole of a ship.  Washington has a man and woman on each side of his portrait.  This is also the only two dollar bill that George Washington was featured on.

1899 silver certificates have blue seals and blue serial numbers.

If your series of 1899 silver certificate has a star symbol in the serial number, it will command a premium.  You can learn more about 1899 $2 star notes here.
