Description:  Ten dollar national bank notes have the chance to be rare and valuable.  It all depends on which bank printed the note and the condition of the note.  Most $10 bills from the time period of 1862-1881 are very collectible.

The right hand side of the bill shows a man flying a kite.  This is Benjamin Franklin conducting his electricity experiments in 1752.  The left hand side of the $10 bill shows a bare breasted woman clutching a lightening bolt.  The back has a vignette of Desoto discovering the Mississippi in 1541.

First charter ten dollar national bank notes always represent the earliest type of money any national bank could have issued.  As such, they are in demand and can be valuable.  There are dozens of small nuances that can make one national bank note more valuable than another.  We strongly encourage you to send us a scan or digital photo of your bill so we can examine it and make our offer.

Variations:  If your ten dollar national bank note has a pointed red seal on it then you have what is known as an original series first charter note.  If your red seal is more rounded, then you have a series of 1875 ten dollar national bank note.  Neither series if necessarily more valuable.  It is still all about bank rarity.

There are three rare notes based on signature combinations.  Notes signed by:

Jeffries and Spinner – Bruce and Wyman – Tillman and Morgan – are rare.  However, 99% of people collection national currency based on the bank of issue.  So just because you have a common treasury signature combination in no way means that your note is common.  Contact us for pricing.
