Description:  Five hundred dollar legal tender notes are extremely rare.  There are less than ten of these known across all seven varieties, with some varieties being unreported.  This is not the kind of note that you will find at the local coin shop.  These are held in very advanced collection and government collections.

The central figure is that of Albert Gallatin.  Gallatin was secretary of the treasury under Thomas Jefferson.  Needless to say, Gallitin is one of the most obscure people to be featured on United States currency.  In addition to the portrait, these $500 bills also have a red seal and serial number.

Variations:  $500 legal tender notes come in seven different varieties.  Which variety you have is based on the act date, the series number, the seal type, the writing on the back of each note, and a handful of other smaller intricacies.
