Description:  1864 fifty dollar interest bearing notes are very rare.  The one pictured below with an eagle was payable after three years.  These notes can be found with as many as 5 coupons still attached to them.  

Variations:  There are two varieties to this $50 bill.  Some were printed for August 15 1864 and others were printed for March 3 1865.  The 1865 variety is currently not known to exist.
Inscriptions:  Interest One Cent Per Day  –  Three Years After Date The United States Will Pay To The Order With 7 3/10 Percent Interest Fifty Dollars Payable With Interest  –  Act of March 3rd 1863  –  Register Of The Treasury  –  Treasury Department  –  Five Coupons Attached Last Six Months Interest Payable With Note.  Prior Installments Payable Only On Presentation of Coupon Therefor  –  Washington  –  Pay to bearer At Maturity.  Convertible at the option of the holder into Bonds Redeemable at the pleasure of the Government at any time after five years and payable twenty years from August 15th 1867 with interest at six per cent per annum payable semi-annually in coin.
