Description: Series of 1869 one dollar bills are commonly called “Rainbow” notes by collectors. This nickname comes from the color changing paper these bills were printed on. All 1869 one dollar notes were signed by Allison and Spinner. 1869 one dollar bills feature a portrait of George Washington and artwork showing The Embarkation of Pilgrims. 1869 ones are common but they are popular. Contact us for an exact value. Remember that despite saying series of 1863, all these notes are actually from the series of 1869. These notes also have a serial number that ends with a star symbol. However, these are not considered star notes and do not command a premium due to that star.

Counterfeiting or altering this note or passing any counterfeit or alteration of it, or having in possession any false or counterfeit plate or impression of it, or any paper made in imitation of the paper on which it is printed is felony, and is punishable by $5,000 fine, or 15 years imprisonment at hard labor or both. |
