Description:  1874, 1875, 1878, and 1880 $500 legal tender notes all have the same design.  This page should act as a reference for all issues.  Right now there are only about 40 $500 of these notes known to exist (total for all years).  These are rare.  General Joseph King Mansfield is pictured on the right hand side of the bill.  The woman on the left hand side of the bill is supposed to represent Victory.
Variations:  Due to the fact that we are covering several issues, there are certainly many varieties.  Contact us with an image of what you have and we can advise as to its value.
