Description:  Silver certificates were first printed for the two dollar denomination in 1886.  These notes are called “Hancock” notes by collectors because 1886 $2 bills feature the portrait of General Winfield Scott Hancock.

Due to the simple design, these really aren’t the most popular two dollar bills.  However, this is the only year that features this design, so the note is still needed for a type set.  Contact us for exact pricing on your 1886 $2 silver certificate.

Variations:  Series of 1886 two dollar silver certificates come in five different signature combinations and seals.  None of the varieties command much of a premium over each other.
