Description:  At first glance series of 1886 and 1891 one dollar silver certificates can look very similar.  However, the backs of 1891 one dollar silver certificates have a lot more white in their design.

1891 $1 silver certificates still feature a portrait of Martha Washington.  All one dollar silver certificates from all years are very common.  If your note is in nice uncirculated condition it could still be valuable, despite being quite common.

Variations:  Series 1891 Martha Washington silver certificates come in two different signature combinations.  The earlier of the two notes were signed by Rosecrans and Nebeker.  Tillman and Morgan signed the other notes.  Both varieties have red seal.
