Description:  Michael Hillegas, first treasurer of The U.S., is on the 1922 $10 gold certificate.  He is likely the most obscure historical figure shown on United States paper money.  Sadly, that does not add to the value of these notes.  In fact, series of 1922 $10 gold certificates are the second most common large size ten dollar bill available today.

1922 $10 notes are collectible in high grades, but they are extremely common in low grades.  They can be bought for less than $100 in many cases.

If your 1922 $10 gold certificate has a serial number that begins with a star symbol, then it is rarer than a regular issue.  Learn more about 1922 $10 star notes.

Variations:  There are no signature combination varieties for the series of 1922 $10 gold certificate.  The only variety is in the size of the serial numbers.  If the font is the size as seen above then you have what would be considered normal print.  If the serial numbers are smaller than those above, then you have small serial number.  The size of the serial numbers really doesn’t affect the value.
