Description: There is only one type of 1891 $1000 silver certificate. It is signed by Tillman and Morgan. The right hand side of the bill has a portrait of William Marcy. The red serial number is printed twice on the bill, once in the upper left and once in the lower right below Marcy.
Right now there are only two notes known to exist for this issue. The note below is in a museum, and there is another in a private collection. In fact there are only 9 specimens reported as outstanding. If that information is correct then one or two more should be waiting to be found. |
