Description: One dollar series of 1891 treasury notes were redesigned from 1890 with a much more segmented green and white reverse design. This design change was implemented to help ward off counterfeiters who were supposedly preying on this note due to all the busy areas in the design.
There are more than enough series of 1891 one dollar treasury notes to satisfy demands. However, this note is needed for a design type set, so there is still some demand for the note despite it being very common. PS: The man with the beard is Edwin M Stanton. Also remember that every serial number ends with a star symbol on this series. The star symbol does not add a premium. |

Variations: All series of 1891 treasury notes are valued the same. However, they do come in three different signature combinations, with each note having a small red seal.
