Description:  This $5 Confederate note is also known as an “Indian Princess” note because of the picture along the right side of the note featuring a young Native American girl. The lower left corner of the note shows men loading bales of cotton on a steamboat. This note was printed with black ink. There is no design on the back.

Inscriptions: “Six Months after the Ratification of a Treaty of peace between the Confederate States and the United States, the Confederate States of America will pay Five Dollars to bearer/ Richmond, Va. September 2, 1861/ Fundable in Confederate States Stock bearing Eight per Cent Interest/ Receivable in Payment of all dues except export dues/ Lith of Hoyer & Ludwig, Richmond, Va.”
