Twenty Dollar Bills from 1928 and Newer Featuring Andrew Jackson
The modern twenty dollar bill featuring Jackson was only printed for three different seal colors. $20 bills come with:
Green Seals – Gold Seals – Brown Seals
All things equal, 1928 $20 gold seals tend to be the most valuable of the three seal colors. Any twenty dollar bill that has a serial number that begins or ends with a star symbol has a chance to be valuable. Keep in mind that brown seal 1929 twenty dollar bills issued by a national bank can have a chance to be rare.
***Please note than any twenty dollar bill from 1950 or newer has no chance to be collectible***
Some old twenty dollar bills can also have low serial numbers. To qualify as a low number, the serial number should have six or seven leading zeros. Some collectors specialize in low serial numbered twenty dollar bills.
Any twenty dollar bill from 1928 and newer is referred to as a “small size twenty” by collectors. Small size twenty dollar bills were printed as Federal Reserve notes, gold certificates, national bank notes, Federal Reserve bank notes, and special issue Hawaii notes.
