Description: Two dollar national bank notes are a very popular type of bill to collect. Collectors refer to these notes as Lazy Deuces. This nickname derives from the fact that the two is laying on its side resting. For every three one dollar bills that a national bank note printed, it only issued one two dollar note. So they tend to be the rarest of the small denominations. Two dollar bills tend to be especially scarce from Southern and Western states.
The front of two dollar national bank notes has lady liberty holding an American flag. The back shows Sir Walter Raleigh. |

Variations: These notes come with two different seal possibilities. They can have the red seal as shown above, or they can have a spiked red seal. The circular seal is found on notes that say series of 1875. Two dollar national bank notes can also come with blue serial numbers instead of red serial numbers. There will also not always be a large red charter number printed on the note. The seal on the back of two dollar national bank notes will change depending on which state the note is from. Not every note will say Connecticut. Two dollar national bank notes can be from any bank and any town. | ||
