Two Dollar Bill with a Star in the Serial Number – Values and Pricing
There is one tremendous rarity within the two dollar star note denomination. Far and away the key to the series is the 1928B $2 star note. 1928B $2 stars are one of the rarities within all of small size star series.
1928E and 1928A $2 star notes are the next rarest.
1928, 1928C, and 1928D $2 star notes are somewhat uncommon.
1928F and 1928G $2 red seal star notes are the most common of the 1928 series.
The most common red seal $2 star notes are from 1953, 1953A, 1953B, 1953C, 1963, and 1963A. These star notes can be bought at will for about $5 each. Uncirculated examples are worth closer to $15.
1976 $2 star notes were issued for all districts. 1976 $2 star notes from Minneapolis and Kansas City are considered rare. Uncirculated examples sell for about $100 if the serial number starts with I or J. All circulated 1976 $2 star notes are common and rarely command a premium.
1995 $2 star notes were only issued for Atlanta. They are common.
2003 and 2003A $2 star notes are common and not worth much more than face value.
