Any five dollar bill that has a green seal is known as a Federal Reserve note. These come in three categories:
1928 – 1934 – 1950 to present
Each green seal five dollar bill features a picture of Abraham Lincoln. There is also always going to be a green seal on the right hand side of the bill. The serial number is in green ink, and we often hear it commented that the back of the bill is exceptionally green. All bills will also have a black seal on the left hand side of the bill.
As the years changed, so did the wording on some five dollar bills. However, all bills will still say “Federal Reserve Note The United States of America Five Dollars.” Bills from 1928 and 1934 will not say In God We Trust. 1950 or newer could or could not say In God We Trust. 1963 and newer will say In God We Trust.
