Small Size One Dollar Bills (1928 – present) – Values and Pricing
Small size one dollar bills have been issued with five different seal colors:
blue seals – green seals – brown seals – yellow seals – red seals
The first United States issued one dollar bill was printed in 1862. Since that time there have been many redesigns of the one dollar bill. In 1928 the size of the one dollar bill was changed to the size that we consider normal today. Before 1928, all dollar bills were about 35% bigger. It wasn’t until 1963 that the dollar bill took on the design and color scheme we see on modern money. George Washington has been on the one dollar bill since 1869; however, his likeness has changed and other people have been featured on the dollar bill, including Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses Grant, Salmon P Chase, Martha Washington, and Edward Stanton.
